Cloning a project in Rapport3 can be a powerful way to replicate existing project structures and save time. However, it's crucial to understand the process, limitations, and best practices to ensure a smooth workflow.

Cloning a Project

When you initiate a project clone in the system, you'll follow a specific workflow:

  • Navigate to the Projects Module
  • Select the particular project's Details page
  • Click on the dedicated clone project icon:
  • This will bring up the clone wizard:
  • Once you have selected the details you want to clone, select ‘Clone Now’ to finish cloning the project

What Gets Copied

During the cloning process, you can selectively choose to duplicate several project elements:

  • Project descriptions
  • QA templates
  • Internal and external team configurations
  • Workstages
  • Project grades
  • Staff labour plan entries

Important Limitations

Be aware of these critical constraints when cloning projects:

  • Administrative and absence-related projects cannot be cloned
  • You can clone a maximum of 25 projects simultaneously
  • The cloning feature is disabled by default and requires Support activation

Project numbers are automatically assigned using the same range as standard projects, ensuring consistency in your project management workflow.

Pro Tip: Always consult with your system administrator or support team before mass cloning projects to ensure optimal configuration and avoid potential workflow disruptions.
